Our Alpaca Barn

The barn at Alpaca Angel Acres is designed specifically to assure the health, safety and happiness of our alpacas, whether they are just visiting as boarding alpacas or our own angels. The barn measures 36’x48’, and it is insulated and newly constructed. The interior design follows the suggestions of Marty McGee Bennett allowing for ease of herd management and alpaca training for the owners/handlers and the alpacas. With one large door at each end and three doors on each side, our alpaca barn pours out into the surrounding six pastures of lush grass.

Our Alpaca Pastures

Each alpaca pasture has a separate entrance from the barn with a laneway for easy herding of the alpacas from one pasture to the next. With six pastures, rotation occurs every two weeks allowing for one pasture to lay dormant and enabling new grass to grow and parasites to die before the alpacas are reintroduced to the pasture.

Our Alpaca Farm Fencing

As gentle sweet camelids, alpacas are not the sort of livestock that tries to break down a fence. The farm, however, is double fenced to prevent predators from entering the premises. The perimeter of the farm is fenced with mesh and the separate pastures have an additional mesh fence with 2”x4” openings to a height of five feet. Since alpacas are intensely curious, they like to stick their heads through fences, so precautions need to be taken to prevent the unfortunate experience of getting their heads stuck! You’ll see that safety, health and happiness for all alpacas are our top priority at Alpaca Angel Acres.

Our Alpaca Farm Guest House

Rest and relaxation is our priority for our human guests during their back-to-the-farm vacation and the overnight experience. Just a few steps away from the back deck, you’ll enjoy the soothing tranquility of our alpacas and feel the unique “warm fuzzy” only an alpaca can give.

The guest house has an open floor plan with a full size kitchen. There are two bedrooms with queen size beds and a full glass door for easy access right to the deck. The living room fireplace makes for cozy cuddling during our cool Colorado nights and the view of Greenhorn Mountain from the window seat is absolutely gorgeous. Sitting on the front deck you can’t miss the tinkle of the water garden or the beautiful views of the San Isabel National Forest.
